- Credential Custody
- The practice of securely storing and managing downstream provider API keys and tokens so client applications never handle them directly.
- Counterparty
- An external party in a financial transaction - the recipient of a transfer or sender of a payment.

- DEK
- Data Encryption Key - A key used to encrypt actual data, itself encrypted by a master key in a hierarchical key management system.
E
- EMI
- Electronic Money Institution - A regulated entity under SAMA that can issue electronic money, maintain virtual ledgers, and orchestrate provider APIs while partner banks hold the actual funds.

- HSM
- Hardware Security Module - A physical device that safeguards cryptographic keys and performs encryption operations.

- Omnibus Account
- A pooled bank account holding funds for multiple customers, with individual positions tracked via sub-ledgers.
P
- PKCE
- Proof Key for Code Exchange - An OAuth 2.0 extension that prevents authorization code interception attacks.
S
- Sub-Ledger
- A record of individual account positions within a pooled/omnibus account held at a partner bank.
- SAMA
- Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority - The central bank and financial regulator of Saudi Arabia.
- SCA
- Strong Customer Authentication - Multi-factor authentication required for sensitive financial operations under Open Banking regulations.

- Virtual Identity
- An abstraction layer that maps a single Hyperscale customer to multiple provider-specific identities across banks and PSPs.
- Virtual IBAN
- A unique International Bank Account Number assigned to a virtual account, enabling direct deposits and transfers.
